There are many ways to go online nowadays; from having a wired
connection at home or Wi-Fi in your school or office, to getting
an air card for your laptop. However, there are times when you
wish you could go online quickly and with a good connection, but
to also be able to share that internet with other devices. This
is when a 3G modem router can come in handy.
Gamers often find that they would like to go online and be able
to connect their Xbox or PSP at the same time. You may also want
to link up your favorite Apple product to the internet and one
or two more of your computers. Because a 3G modem router can
support cellular modems, you can even plug in your Smartphone
and instantly create your own Wi-Fi network.
There are many types of 3G modem routers out there. Here are
just a few good ones to consider.
- The WiFi Ranger and WiFi Ranger Pro modem routers support
AT&T, Sprint, and Verizon carriers. They work with wireless N,
B, and G, but are only compatible with USB devices. These modem
routers also have four Ethernet ports. According to some tests,
these modems have a range of up to 200 feet and are a great
option for travelers.
- Another great modem router to check out is the Cradlepoint
PHS300 Battery Powered Router which supports AT&T, Sprint,
Verizon but also Alltel. This router runs using the G wireless
range, and supports USB and ExpressCards, which is an advantage
over the WiFi Rangers. This 3G modem router is also the only one
of its kind to include a rechargeable battery. On the downside,
the Cradlepoint PHS300 only supports G wireless and only has a
range of 80 feet. It also does not have an Ethernet port so your
devices have to be wireless, and you can’t add a Wi-Fi antenna.
- Another modem router option you can get is the NexAira
Business Class II 3G/4G Wireless Router (BC2), which supports
Sprint, Verizon, Alltel and AT&T. It has one WAN and one LAN
port, and supports USBs and an ExpressCards. It runs on the
wireless N range and is the only 3G modem router to support the
iPhone. This modem router supports both 3G and 4G broadband
connections.
- The best option for a 3G modem router is to get the
Cradlepoint MBR1200 which supports not only USB and ExpressCards
but also PCMCIA cards. It is the only modem router which
supports PCMCIA cards. It has a wireless N range which is
compatible with B and G. It has four high speed 10/100/1000 LAN
and WLAN ports, 3 USB ports, and one Ethernet port. It has
excellent range, about three times better than G wireless and
optional external Wi-Fi antennas to improve the range even more.
The Cradlepoint MBR1200 also supports 4G WiMax.
As you can see there are many types of modem routers that you
can purchase which allow you to connect multiple computer and
devices. A 3G modem router is also an excellent way to create
your own Wi-Fi network.
